Tax Code Mapping by Vendor Location – Stocky Settings

  • Pradip Ghanghar

Overview:

When syncing Stocky purchase orders to QuickBooks Online, applying the correct tax rate based on the vendor’s location is essential. The Provincial Tax Rates for Canada option in Stocky Settings lets you map QuickBooks tax codes by province, ensuring accurate tax application.

Detailed information:

How to Configure Provincial Tax Rates (Stocky Settings)

To configure tax mapping by province:

  1. Navigate to the QuickBooks Bridge → Features → Click on ‘Edit’ for Stocky Purchase Order Sync Feature

  2. Click Provincial Tax Rates for Canada

  3. Select the appropriate QuickBooks Sales Tax Code for each province

  4. Click Save to apply your settings

Example:

If you map HST 13% for Ontario, any purchase order synced from a vendor located in Ontario will automatically apply 13% HST in QuickBooks Online.

Handling Vendors with Different Tax Rates (Additional Tax Rates) – Stocky Settings

Some vendors may charge a tax rate different from the standard provincial rate. The Additional Tax Rates option in Stocky Settings allows you to handle these exceptions.

How It Works:

  1. Go to the Additional Tax Rates section in Stocky Settings

  2. Enter the alternate tax rate (for example, 5 for 5% GST)

  3. Select the corresponding QuickBooks Sales Tax Code

  4. Save your changes

Example:

If most Ontario vendors charge 13% HST, but some charge only 5% GST, you can:

  • Keep 13% HST mapped under Provincial Tax Rates

  • Add 5% GST under Additional Tax Rates

When a purchase order is synced from an Ontario vendor charging 5% GST, the app will automatically apply the correct 5% GST tax code in QuickBooks Online.
