How does the customer mapping work between Shopify and QuickBooks Online through Parex Bridge?
Overview:
Our app syncs customers from Shopify to QuickBooks Online along with the orders. During setup, you can choose how customers should be created / mapped in QuickBooks.
Detailed Information:
Option 1: Map Customers by First and Last Name
With this, the customer’s Firstname Lastname from Shopify is matched with the DisplayName in QuickBooks.
-
If a match exists, the order is mapped to that customer.
-
If no match is found, a new QuickBooks customer is created using the same name.
If the mapped customer is deleted / merged in QuickBooks, future orders may fail to sync until we remap them. If an order in Shopify has no customer information, it will sync to “Shopify Default Customer.”
Option 2: Map Customers by Company Name
With this, the Company Name from the Shopify Shipping Address is matched with the QuickBooks Display Name.
-
If a matching Display Name exists, the order maps to that customer.
-
If not, a new customer is created using the Company Name.
If no Company Name is available, the app defaults to First and Last Name mapping.
Additional Options (Enabled on Request)
We can also map customers using the Company Name from the Billing Address or Default Address. This works the same way as shipping-address mapping. If the mapped customer is deleted / merged, future orders may fail until we remap the customer.
Another feature allows mapping customers using the Lastname Firstname format. If it exists in QuickBooks, it is mapped; otherwise, a new customer is created.
Same Customer Every Order
If you prefer not to track individual customers, all Shopify orders can be synced to a single QuickBooks customer, either existing or newly created.
