How it works when orders are paid using a currency other than the order currency - Xero Bridge app

  • Chirag Patil

Our app supports multi currency and it works perfectly. Below are the scenarios which are helpful to understand how multi currency works with different payment methods.

1. For orders paid using payment method other than PayPal:

By default, when an order is paid in Shopify, our app syncs that order with the order currency that our app receives from Shopify order and also the payment of the order is synced with the order currency.

For example, the order has been placed in GBP, while the payment of that order is paid in EUR in Shopify. Our app will create the invoice to Xero in GBP currency and payment will also be synced with GBP currency.

Same thing applies when there is any refund done. Our app syncs the refund with the order currency and the payment of the refund is also synced with the order currency.

2. For orders paid using PayPal payment method:

For PayPal payment method, our app has a feature to sync PayPal transactions (payments) that are paid through PayPal but in a different currency other than the base currency. This feature will sync the payment of the PayPal orders to their respective PayPal currency account.

Please refer to the below article for more details on this feature.

3. Shopify payout:

Shopify payout is always received in one currency irrespective of currency of the payment in Shopify order. Our app syncs the payout to Xero as per the base currency of Xero so that the reconciliation becomes easy.
